What's the step most installers skip on a split AC?
Vacuuming the circuit before releasing the refrigerant. Air and moisture trapped in the pipework form acids that damage the compressor and reduce cooling efficiency. A rushed install that skips evacuation works fine on day one — and kills the unit over a few years.
Does the length of the copper line affect performance?
Directly. Every extra metre costs pressure and requires a calculated additional charge. Exceeding the manufacturer's maximum line length without compensating means weaker cooling and a strained compressor. The distance between the two units is an engineering decision, not an aesthetic one.
Where should the outdoor unit be mounted?
Somewhere shaded where possible, with clear space around the coil for airflow, and away from heat radiating off walls. In Khamis Mushait we avoid fully exposed rooftops wherever we can. In Jazan we keep it off the direct sea-facing elevation if possible, or coat it against corrosion.
Is bigger better?
No — an oversized AC is a genuine problem. A unit that's too large cools the room fast and then shuts off, without running long enough to pull moisture out of the air. The result is a cold, clammy, uncomfortable room, plus short cycling that costs more electricity and wears the compressor.
How long does a split installation take?
Three to five hours for a complete new install: mounting the bracket, running the lines, electrical connection, drain line, evacuation, then commissioning checks. Any quote promising it in an hour is skipping steps that shouldn't be skipped.
